Chicago Oracle Users Group Meeting August 8th 2017 – Recap

Our recent Chicago Oracle Users Group meeting on August 8th marked our third meeting of 2017.  We had not one but two Oracle ACE Directors!  Nitin Vengurlekar and Richard Niemiec brought us a total of five feature packed presentations! Chicago Oracle Users Group Meeting June 22nd 2017 – Recap

We had our second Chicago Oracle Users Group meeting of 2017 on June 22nd.  We were fortunate to get Willie Hardie, Vice President, Oracle Database Product Management and Oracle ACE Director, Jim Czuprynski. Chicago Oracle Users Group Meeting February 23rd 2017 – Recap

We kicked off 2017 with an awesome Chicago Oracle Users Group meeting on February 23rd. We had excellent presentations by Moizuddin Mohamed and Oracle Ace Director, Jim Czuprynski! Moizuddin was our COUG “Show and Tell” and provided us with a presentation on GoldenGate High Availability Using DBFS in an Exadata/RAC environment. He demonstrated a use case where he has a DBFS instance at a primary site but uses GoldenGate to replicate the DBFS instance to a disaster recovery site as well.  Giving the ability to easily start the instance at either site for both planned and unplanned outages with minimal…

Chicago Oracle Users Group Meeting August 26th 2016 – Recap

We had another awesome COUG meeting on August 26th. We held the meeting at my old stomping ground, The Pampered Chef located in the suburb city of Addison. They provided us with a roomy space, free giveaways (The Pampered Chef Water Infuser), and held an appetizer/cocktail hour afterwards for us. Chicago Oracle Users Group Meeting February 18th 2016 – Recap

We kicked off 2016 with a great meeting on February 18th. We had an excellent presentation by Tony Jedlinski and two presentations by Oracle Ace Director, Jim Czuprynski! Tony was our COUG “Show and Tell” and provided us with a great demo on how quickly you can go from a spreadsheet to a full blown Oracle Application Express (APEX) application in a matter of minutes. Chicago Oracle Users Group – RAC Attack! 12c Workshop

The Chicago Oracle Users Group organized a great RAC Attack! 12c workshop last Saturday, August 22nd. Even with the gorgeous summer weather we had an amazing turnout! Over 30 people showed up to learn how to install Oracle RAC on virtual machines on their own laptops. I had a great team of mentors that were helping our participants in the workshop. 12c New Feature – Online Statistics Gathering for Bulk Loads

How many times have we had to execute a CREATE TABLE AS SELECT or INSERT INTO…SELECT that involved a large amount of data then wondered why queries against this table are slow? Did we forget to gather statistics after the fact perhaps?
