Chicago Oracle Users Group Meeting September 17th 2015 – Recap

We had another great user group meeting recently! We had two excellent presentations by well known Oracle Ace Director, Tim Gorman! The first presentation was focused on Accelerating DevOps using Data Virtualization. This was a great presentation and really demonstrated that the next step in virtualization is at the data/storage level. Only with data virtualization can you accelerate the testing/deployment cycle to speed up project times, improve project quality and put a company at a competitive edge. Chicago Oracle Users Group – RAC Attack! 12c Workshop

The Chicago Oracle Users Group organized a great RAC Attack! 12c workshop last Saturday, August 22nd. Even with the gorgeous summer weather we had an amazing turnout! Over 30 people showed up to learn how to install Oracle RAC on virtual machines on their own laptops. I had a great team of mentors that were helping our participants in the workshop. A special thanks to Ashok Sivasankaran, Ittichai Chammavanijakul and Omar Ahmad for helping folks get past issues they may have had. Chicago Oracle Users Group Meeting July 23rd 2015 – Recap

We had another great user group meeting this past Thursday! We had two excellent presentations by two very well known speakers! Our 1st presentation was by Oracle Ace, Biju Thomas. He did a great job going over a lot of cool new features available in 12c especially for those of us that are still 11g DBAs. Our 2nd presentation was by Oracle Ace Director, Jim Czuprynski. Chicago Oracle Users Group Meeting May 13th 2015 – Recap

We had another great user group meeting this past Wednesday! We had 2 excellent presentations. Our 1st presentation was by Oracle Principal Sales Consultant Omar Amad on Oracle Linux, Oracle VM and Oracle Cloud.  This also included a live demo of Oracle Ksplice and why not installing the latest security patches can leave us open to vulnerabilities. Our 2nd presentation was by Oracle Ace Director, Michelle Malcher, on Oracle Database 12c Security. Chicago Oracle Users Group (COUG)

As of February 2014, I feel fortunate and honored to be put in charge of running the Chicago Oracle Users Group (COUG). I really feel like I’m doing our user community a great service by coordinating these periodic meetings to allow all of us to continue to get educated on the latest Oracle technologies as well as provide beneficial networking opportunities.
