We had another great user group meeting this past Wednesday! We had 2 excellent presentations. Our 1st presentation was by Oracle Principal Sales Consultant Omar Amad on Oracle Linux, Oracle VM and Oracle Cloud. This also included a live demo of Oracle Ksplice and why not installing the latest security patches can leave us open to vulnerabilities.
Our 2nd presentation was by Oracle Ace Director, Michelle Malcher, on Oracle Database 12c Security. She provided a very informative overview of security improvements in 12c which gives us yet another reason why we should be moving towards this version.
Our meeting was sponsored by the Oracle Linux Team and they got us a nice venue with plenty of food/drink to keep us going. We had a slew of raffle prizes to give away. Some of which I kindly requested (okay maybe a little begging) for at Collaborate…anything for my COUG members 🙂 We also had 5 copies of the Oracle book, “Oracle Database 12c Install, Configure & Maintain Like a Professional” which were kindly given to us by McGraw Hill and which I promptly asked Michelle if she could sign (hey that makes the book that more valuable, right?).
Both presentations are available for download on the COUG Web Site.
If you haven’t already, make sure to sign up as a COUG member (free!) and for our LinkedIn Group so you can stay informed of all of our events.
